Asia Art Center returns to the 22nd edition of the Kiaf SEOUL 2023 after a 13-year hiatus, showcasing a spectacular collection of works by 8 artists at booth B14.

JU Ming (Taiwan, 1938-2023) initiated his Taichi Series in the mid-1970s, where his sculptures were not dictated by form but rather guided by intention. He translated the Tai Chi ” physical shapes ” and “inner spirit” into the vocabulary of artistic creation. His later Living World Series – Ballet features stainless steel bodies gracefully encased in ballet attire, expressing the thoughts and emotions of dancers, choreographing an elegant spatial dimension. These works reflect JU’s profound sentiments about harmony in life and the existence of all things.

LI Chen (Taiwan, 1963-) explores the artist’s questioning of society and philosophy through his sculptural works. By engaging in a dialogue and interaction between two dimensions, he delineates the evolution of his creative path. In the Spiritual Journey Through the Great Ether Series, the works are both heavy and light, brimming with deep, inky blackness. His rich creative context probes the spiritual and ethical values in the Eastern and Western cultural systems, developing a unique stylistic language. Concealed philosophical clues within his works metaphorically convey societal conditions.

Furthermore, as part of Asia Art Center’s ongoing commitment to promoting emerging international artists, the exhibition will feature artists who have garnered significant attention in the global contemporary art scene. This includes Carlo D’Anselmi (USA, 1991-), Claire Colette (USA, 1980-), Joseph Olisaemeka Wilson (USA, 1999-), and Meguru YAMAGUCHI ( Japan, 1984- ), all of whom have previously held solo exhibitions at Asia Art Center. Additionally, Katja Farin (USA, 1996-), making her debut in Asia. These artists employ their unique visual vocabularies and narrative styles to interpret philosophy, everyday life, and the interaction between humans and nature.
