The group exhibition with the theme of "The Power of The Universe ¡V
Exhibition of Frontier Contemporary Chinese Art" is entrusted by Asia Art Center located in Beijing 798 and is planned by Fang Zhenning, a famous art critic and an independent curator, which gathers 35 most pioneering artists of Chinese contemporary art and reflects the latest movement of Chinese contemporary art. The works are composed of three categories: paintings on the shelf, 3-D works and photographic and video works. The works of the artists participating in the Exhibition of Frontier Contemporary Chinese Art reflect energetic creative desires and extraordinary talents of Chinese contemporary artists.
The theme of "The Power of the Universe" originated from "Qiangua diagram" in the Book of Changes. The whole sentence is: As Heaven's movement is ever vigorous, so must a gentleman ceaselessly strive along, which means that a gentleman should be dauntless, resolute and steadfast, and work with stamina and diligence. That is to say that a gentleman should be moving like the heaven and the earth and never give in even in case of setbacks. This spirit has been echoing in the sky of Chinese civilization for over 1000 years. The reason why they are still rooted in our memory is that we have seen the energetic and vigorous movement of the "The Universe" as the motivation to make progress.
Here, the "Universe" is still moving energetically and vigorously and the "gentlemen" are the pioneering artists of Chinese contemporary art. It is most fit that we compare "The Power Of the Universe" to the state of Chinese contemporary art nowadays. The selection of the artists, self statements and profiles, comprehensive evaluation of critics for them as well as the publication of high taste documentary albums of paintings is an important record of the long march of Chinese contemporary art.
Moreover, this exhibition is the first one of Asia Art Center in Beijing 798. It is the starting point of the center to build a latest international art platform in Beijing, so we attach great importance to the selection and combination of artists. It is a miniature of multi-layer, multi-space, diversified and rich state of Chinese contemporary art.
